How is the bidding process conducted for auctions taking place simultaneously online and on-site?

On the OneBid platform, particularly in the field of art, some auctions are held simultaneously on-site and online. In such cases, the bidding process follows slightly different rules compared to auctions held exclusively online, as it is overseen by an Auctioneer.

The Auctioneer sets the pace of the bidding and decides which bids are accepted, whether they come from the floor or online. They also have the authority to restart the bidding on a given lot or, in the event of a dispute, designate the final winning bidder.

As with auctions held exclusively online, during the bidding for a given lot, you will see offers placed by both in-person and online participants displayed on the screen. Each subsequent bid must be accepted by the organizer in order to take the lead. If identical bids are submitted around the same time, it is the Auctioneer who decides which one was placed first. All bids await the Auctioneer’s decision and acceptance, and no new bids are considered until that process is complete.
