The amount of the next bid increase depends on the internal settings of the organizer. For each auction, the increments may vary slightly, but typically the bid steps are around 10% of the current price.
During the auction of items with low starting prices, the increments are usually small, e.g., PLN 5, 10, 20, or 50. For higher starting prices, the increments may be, for example, PLN 200, 500, 1,000, or more.
During a single auction, the amount of the increment changes as the current price of the lot rises. For example, if the lot’s price is up to PLN 1,000, each subsequent bid increases it by PLN 50. Once the price exceeds PLN 1,000, the individual increment may be, for example, PLN 100.
When preparing for an auction, it’s worth checking the bid increment settings with the organizer. This information is available under the About the auction link on the right side, under the basic auction details, as well as on the pages of individual lots listed in the auction. It’s also important to remember that during the auction, the amount expected by the auctioneer at that moment will be displayed on the bidding button.
Some auctions (mainly in the numismatics category) allow bidding in half of the current bid increment (known as a ‘cut-bid’). This option will be available to you only once during the auction of a particular lot. Unlike many other systems, using the cut-bid does not exclude you from further bidding on that lot.
