What is a deposit (wadium) and is it required for OneBid auctions?

A deposit (wadium) is a specified amount set by the organizer, which must be paid before the participant is allowed to take part in the auction.

Wadium serves as a guarantee for the fulfilment of the terms of the purchase agreement by the buyer, specifically the payment for the auctioned lots. If you fail to win any bids during a given auction, the organizer will refund the paid deposit. If you participate in an auction of the same organizer again, for most auctions available on OneBid, the deposit is not required. However, there may be situations where the auction house will request financial security before the bidding. The decision on whether a deposit is required is solely at the discretion of the auction organizer.
