In the oeuvre of Zbigniew Pronaszko one can find many works of landscape character, most often they show rural landscapes set in summer scenery. It is worth noting that in his landscapes the artist liked to use the technique of watercolor.
The work on display depicts the church at the Carmelite Barefoot Monastery in Wadowice, as indicated by both the mass of the building and its characteristic window openings. Views of Wadowice and its environs have recurred many times in Zbigniew Pronaszko's paintings.
In the offered watercolor, a formalistic approach to form is combined with a subtle range of colors. Fine brushstrokes have been superimposed on large patches of color. This treatment builds depth and affects the decorative qualities of the composition. The artist, in his characteristic way, transformed the existing space into a poetic and tranquil local landscape.
