Description of work:
Stanislaw Batowski Kaczor - although known mainly as a battle painter - was also involved in landscape, genre and portrait painting. Scenes from the Polish countryside, as well as depictions of independence battles, were a pretext for the artist to express patriotic feelings.
Stanisław Batowski Kaczor's painting "In the countryside" depicts an embroidering girl against a background of haystacks and thatched houses. To the right of the composition, domestic fowl are grazing. The painter depicted this idyllic scene with great freedom. When looking at the painterly layer of the painting, one can follow the energetic brushstrokes and admire the bold, contrasting decisions in the color range well, thanks to which the work accurately captures the atmosphere of a warm summer day.
