Artwork description:
Wiktor Zin as an artist-painter, in addition to depictions of architecture, created atmospheric, expressive landscapes in which he tried to reflect the beauty of the Polish countryside.
The artist was first and foremost a draftsman, which is why the line in his works is the main means of expression.
The offered painting shows a snowy lowland landscape, in the midst of which are the three titular haystacks, with a calm dark sky towering over the whole. The artist chose a dark ground color and used white, gray and blue pastel to convey the appearance of a frosty night. The snow cover takes on an abstract character in places and is a kind of display of color and compositional skills, showing the finesse of the artist's line.
Victor Zin, with the help of economical, characteristic formal means, has depicted a rural landscape in a convincing and believable way. The work, thanks to the use of colored paper, its impressionistic form, thoughtful construction and color harmony, aptly and unfussyly captures the aura of the winter nocturne.
