Work description:
Bronislaw Chromy was undoubtedly a versatile artist. Although he devoted himself mainly to sculpture in his artistic career, painting was an equally important part of his work. Chromy's paintings were the result of experimentation with form and an artistic starting point for searching for new solutions. Bronislaw Chromy's paintings most often depicted landscapes and animalistic motifs. Color was the main means of expression in them. The juxtaposition of color patches allowed the artist to shape forms, build the composition and depth of the paintings.
The offered canvas by Bronislaw Chromy depicts a scene with an animalistic motif - eight partridges shown against a vast landscape, maintained in shades of blue. The colorful plumage of the birds is highlighted with accents of green, warm oranges and red. The central part of the composition is occupied by a partridge highlighted by an intense blue hue, which is the color dominant. The asymmetrical arrangement of the birds lends expression to the scene and contrasts with the casual, sketchy landscape.
